I have been really inspired by the way Daniel Arsham uses objects and aesthetic that they obtain. I have tried to capture a similar look to his sculptures when creating this piece.
Rather than creating a block colour like Arsham’s sculptures, I wanted to keep the harsh marking created by the paint strokes, leaving blank spots to see the clock face vaguely in the background. Similar to my works on paper, I think this what was missing with the previous objects that I painted on, the distressed feeling that the raw brush marks create as a smooth block colour creates a more calm feeling which won’t contrast with the calming words of the text.
to further develop this I want to work onto this digitally, to see where I should add text and what text to add if I am going to add any. I will also create more clocks that vary in colour to create a gradient of monotone clocks as a response to Daniel Arsham.
