Artist: Charles Ray
When looking at the work of Charles Ray it initially seems similar to other works that I have been looking at, in the same way of using a monotone sculpture of something ordinary. However, in the case of Charles Ray, he creates sculptures of people in the nude usually made from aluminium, seeing people without any colour or complexion in the form of a sculpture can provoke a feeling of uneasiness as the work is of a human but is also being dehumanised at the same time because of the amount of features that have been taken away.
The contrast of seeing something that you know very well portrayed even the slightest bit differently will be very easy to notice creating an un-natural feeling due to changing what you know. I will be using the affect of distorting things that the viewer already has a perception of to bring their attention to it in a different way.
