Louis K. Meisel Gallery NYC
In my visit to New York I visited the Louis K, Meisel Gallery to look at the Tom Blackwell exhibition being held there. I'm a big fan of Blackwells work as I love hyper-realism, and he is amazing in my opinion, Tom specifies in looking at reflection, whilst walking down the high streets of London and looking in the designer shop windows you can see the beautiful display as well as the reflection of the outside world on the window and this is captured brilliantly throughout his work. Walking round the gallery I was stunned seeing how he can pull off these painting capturing the the lovely nature or industrial high street in the reflection as well as the wonderful display behind the glass it was as if I was looking into the shop windows my self. Furthermore, there was a handful of pieces from another one of my favourite artists in the gallery, Yigal Ozeri. I remember vividly seeing his work for the first time and truly not believing that it was possible to be a painting, every detail nailed perfectly and not a single brush stroke in sight, i was stunned by the sheer precision and time it would take to create such a piece. As a lover of hyper-realism this gallery was definitely one of my favourites that I have visited, it may have been small, but the quality of work made it seem huge.
