Rather than painting the object as it is Bally uses the object as a starting point and moves around the object whilst focussing on the mass, areas of colour and spontanious applications of paint. This is shown in "Still-Life; Mexico" (oil on canvas, 81cm x 91cm), when creating this painting Neil was fascinated in the way light reflects off certain objects and surfaces and how it changes, which is why he painted it from multple angles. I think this gives a great affect for the tones, colours and light in the room from this painting.
