Remfry uses wet into wet techniques in his work to create a washed out look with loosely applied paint. This is shown in "Hats in the Hall" (Watercolour, 102cm x 67cm) as his technique allows colours to merge and create a very muted tone which gives the painting more of a spacious feel. This adds to the composition of the painting as it is very simple, however it is odd in the way he has two random mannequin heads in a normal environment which gives it an eerie feel that is quite unsettling, and this feeling is added to by the washed dull colours which i really like about the painting.
